About

“Childhood is bound like the Gordian knot with my memories of the Black Sea, and I still feel its waters welling up within me today.

I would sit and watch the seabirds waver to shore, flitting from open waters to the quiet empty vastlands in darkening spaces behind me, the same birds Ovid once saw; and the same waters the Argonauts crossed searching for the fleece of renewal.’’

Paul Christensen, The Heretic Emperor

Tatiana Sadykova’s graduation collection is dedicated to a small village on the Black Sea coast, where she spent most of her life. The place symbolizes freedom and peace. The atmosphere of the place is intertwined with the spirit of ancient civilizations, a post-Soviet space with modest homes of fishermen, and tents of visiting surfers.

The Greek settlements on the Black Sea, the aesthetics of their sculptures and the seafoam became the basis for the choice of white colour. Beige and blue tones directly represent the sand and the sea. The graphic print refers to the sports aesthetic of surfing and gives information about the place itself, both in Russian and in English. Also, surfing and water sports inspired the creation of sports swimsuits, the cut of which also echoes the design of a ship. Fishermen with their utility clothes that protect them from water, became the basis for creating sports trousers and parkas from a light raincoat.

Water, as the main source of inspiration, provided the basis for the technique that imitates wet fabric and suspended underwater drapery. To create such shapes, epoxy resin was used.

Open steppes and an endless horizon inspire an epic cut, long skirts and light fabrics. The basis for the draperies was given by the sails and the method of their sewing. An authentic technical language allows you to play with the designs during the wear process.
